Dearly beloved we are gather hear to day to get through this thing called LIFE.
Prince Rogers Nelson was born June 7th, 1958 and passed away last month. Prince a product of 2 parents that were involved in music, his father John a pianist and song writer and his mother Mattie was a jazz singer. So he had all the makings to become a super star. Prince naturally took to music at a young age and was already performing in his teens where he got his first break at the age of 17. –
I’m not a woman
I’m not a man
I am something that you’ll never understand-
Prince wanted a different look, and a different style of music. He wanted to excite and energize the world of music. Although his earlier and later music is a bit of an acquired taste, when Prince released is movie and album Purple Rain it changed the 80’s forever. It was more than his music and his story. Prince wanted to create non gender, non color, neutral ground for all. He promoted peace and unity through blending different cultures and styles as one. –

I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted to one time to see you laughing
I only wanted to see you
Laughing in the purple rain

As a producer and song writer he helped other performers such as the Bengals and Sinead O’Connor enhance and further their career’s. Prince performed on Saturday Night Live, he Performed at Super Bowl XLI, he even turned his name into a Symbol as noted on Eminem’s 2002 release of “Without Me”. Despite all the success and fame over the years Prince stayed true and humble to himself, he was one of a kind and his impression will be left on the world for ages to come. –

Little red Corvette
Baby you’re much too fast
Little red Corvette
You need a love that’s gonna last

Growing up in the Eighties I was hitting my teen stride in the middle part of the decade. Prince was in the mainstream and my brother bought Purple Rain. Back then you went to a show, caught it on the radio, bought the tape, or got it on Vinyl. We had the record and the tape and I’m pretty sure they both got played out. From start to finish it was just an awesome album. It was new and fresh and the songs just reached out and pulled you in. Many first kisses, first dates, and first times happened to this album. Now a days you have YouTube and I tunes and I think a lot of the music gets lost in the shuffle. Back in the Eighties you bought the record or tape and you listened to the entire album. Some of the less known songs became the best songs to put the headphones on and loose yourself to. Prince left this world too soon and it only seems fitting that his last song he performed was “Purple Rain”. – RIP to yet another Legend.

Last night when I left you I was so sure
We’d be together forever and for days
And now my shade of blue couldn’t get no bluer
I don’t even know what I did to make you go away
I could possibly stage a front and play the cool one
(Cool one)
Heart in my hand tryin’ to hold back every cry
But who would applaud me
When it’s you, my one and only
Who ever gave me a good reason not to die
Excuse me but is this really
(Goodbye)
